Wagons

Well, go figure….just after I make my first post about my new weight loss journey, I have my first fall off the wagon. Tonight, while I was cooking dinner, the coil in our oven literally started sparking and melting. We live in an apartment, and the oven death happened after maintanence had left for the day. Since I had been planning a specific dinner, I didn’t have much else to offer in place for hubby and I. Luckily, I had a few aces up my sleeve for the kids. Hubby and I decided to order pizza with breadsticks and soda (the best deal for what we needed). As I may have stated before, I usually only use half of my daily WW points, I have a weekly allowance of 49 points, and my working out had given me an addition 10 points so far this week. I fell off the wagon…hard. I endulged it all, pizza, breadsticks, and 2 glasses of soda.

In the moment, it all tasted so very, very good, worth going back for seconds, however I regretted it within 20 minutes of being done, and am still regretting it hours later. I went ahead and splurged, and now I know how bad I feel for it. I doubt I’ll splurge to this degree again anytime soon. I might occasionally have a small sweet, or a glass of wine, but it didn’t taste good enough for how I feel. I’ll definitely be hitting the gym tomorrow to atone for tonight.

I’m sure no one wants to hear me ramble on about this, so I’ll leave it be for now. Good night, all.

Introduction

I’ve made some changes and discarded my old blog. I’m not entirely sure what this will be, perhaps a bit of life, school, fitness, and geek. Let me start by telling you a bit about myself. I’m 30, married to my best friend, and have 2 children. A girl, 8, and a boy, 6. We’re raising them in the geek life, and are so proud when they choose to watch Doctor Who, or Star Trek, or Star Wars, or….you get the idea. I’m in the long process of going to school, hoping to get back into it for fall, but might have to wait for spring. Hub and I are both pursuing degrees in life sciences. He wants to become a zoo keeper, I can’t decide between that, or something involving microbiology. Hmm, I wonder if there’s a microbiology/exotic animal crossover degree?

I’m currently 72 pounds overweight and combining Weight Watchers and a gym membership to remedy that situation. I actually already lost 5 pounds (I originally had 77lbs to lose), so that’s exciting to me. I know a lot of people have problems with WW because they feel you can’t learn how to eat without it, but that’s not my problem. I actually know how to eat healthier, I just need the structure until it becomes a habit. I’m retraining my brain, and body, on choosing the healthier options for meals and snacks. I’ve had some bad relationships with food and weight loss in the past, I suffered from anorexia in high school, so I’m trying to avoid that now.

We’ve been introducing our daughter to more geeky things recently and she’s loving it. This past weekend we watched both of the newer Star Trek movies, we’ve been watching Voyager, and tonight she got sucked into Sherlock with me. I love having my little geeklets!

I’m not really sure of a good way to wrap this up, so I’ll say goodnight for now, and I’ll be back soon.
